Nuha Mahmoud

Nuha Mahmoud is an Egyptian writer, novelist, and journalist whose literary experience is characterized by wonder and presence. She belongs to a generation shaped by storytelling and the exploration of the everyday and transient. She works as a deputy editor-in-chief at 'Al-Gomhuria' newspaper, where she practices journalistic writing with no less passion than her literary writing, combining freedom of the pen, professionalism, and narrative insight. 

Her writing journey began slyly and in silence during childhood, where writing was her means of expressing her desires and concerns, and breaking communication barriers. Her blog, 'Karakib', was her starting point into the world of publishing, bringing her joy and helping her develop her style. Her literary works has received critical and public acclaim, and she has won several prestigious awards, including The Dubai Cultural Award in 2010 for her novel Hallucinations, and The Sawiris Cultural Award in 2019 for her short story collection Those Sitting on the Balcony Until Zeinab Comes. In her texts, the city is rich with small details, and the human being is revealed in their fragility and struggle. She is also biased towards women, fascinated by their stories, history, and strength. Nuha Mahmoud believes that writing is a mirror, and that a story, when told truthfully, can save a soul from loss, and that it is a means of resistance and winning in the face of wars and crises.
