Hani Al-Qut

Hani Al-Qut is a prominent Egyptian writer whose distinctive impact on the Arab literary scene is evident through his extensive body of work and numerous contributions. Born and raised in Egypt, he began his literary career at an early age, writing for various Egyptian and Arab journals and magazines, including “Al-Qahera,” “Al-Akhbar,” “Al-Ahram,” “Al-Thaqafa Al-Jadida,” and “Al-Dustour.” He also contributed to leading Arab cultural publications such as “Sharjah Al-Thaqafia,” “Dubai Al-Thaqafia,” “Nizwa,” and “Al-Faisal,” thereby expanding his influence and reach among readers. 
Al-Qut's literary works showcase remarkable diversity, encompassing both novels and short stories. Among his most notable contributions are: Biography of the Demise (2009), Cities of Waiting (2010), Nearby Sky (2008), Banners of the Dead (2016), Taj Shams (2024), Nothing in the Range (2001), and Under God's Sky (2014). These works possess a profound humanitarian character and tackle intricate social and philosophical issues. Several of his stories have been translated into English, enhancing his visibility on the international stage. Additionally, he has written scripts for documentary films and published stories with the BBC, further attesting to the breadth of his creative experience.

 Hani Al-Qut has received numerous awards in recognition of his significant contributions to literature. He was honored with the National Council for Culture, Arts, and Literature Award in Kuwait for his play Golden Crowns, and the Sharjah Prize for Arab Creativity in the Children's Literature category for his work Under God's Sky. Additionally, he was awarded the State of Qatar Award in the Children's Literature category for his play The Temporal Carriage, and the Dubai Cultural Award in the story category for I Accept Condolences. Furthermore, he won the Akhbar Al-Youm Foundation Award for his collection of short stories The Cities of Waiting, as well as the Mass Culture Award for Nearby Sky, and the Sharjah Award for his Biography of the Demise. His accolades also include recognition from the Saqia Al-Saway Cultural Center for his short stories and plays, the Abdul Al-Rahman Al-Sharqawi Award, and the Science Fiction Award from the BBC.
