Nadia Kamel

Nadia Kamel is an Egyptian writer and director who was born in Cairo in 1961. She grew up in a home that valued art, culture, and political activism. Despite her initial studies in Chemistry and Microbiology, she fully dedicated her passion to the world of cinema in 1990. She began her professional career as an assistant director, working with a group of prominent independent directors in Egypt such as Ateyyat Al Abnoudi, Youssef Chahine, and Yousri Nasrallah. In 2018, she published her debut novel, Born In, which achieved great success and won The Sawiris Award for Best Novel.
