Mirna Al-Mahdi
Mirna Al-Mahdi is an Egyptian novelist and screenwriter, born in Maadi, Cairo, on January 1st, 1997. From a young age, she displayed a strong passion for literature, particularly crime and mystery. This enthusiasm led her to dedicate her teenage years to pursuing her dream of becoming a writer. She graduated from the Faculty of Al- Alsun at Ain Shams University and quickly embarked on her creative journey, establishing herself as one of the most prominent young voices in crime literature in the Arab world.
Her literary career began with the release of her debut novel, Noah Al-Alfi's Investigations: The Case of Set Al-Husen, in December 2018, (Bloomsbury Publishing House - Qatar Foundation). This novel marked the start of the Noah Al- Alfi's Investigations series, which has gained praise from both critics and readers, encouraging her to further develop the adventures of investigator Noah Al-Alfi and his partner. Mirna Al-Mahdi's writing is characterized by a smooth narrative style and engaging plots that captivate readers until the very last page. Over the years, she has published several notable works, including Thirteen (2020), The Archive series, Rock and Roll (2020), as well as Hell's Gates series. In June 2021, she released her novel My Psychopathic Friend, which received significant attention for the bold exploration of complex psychosocial issues.
Mirna Al-Mahdi continues to expand the Noah A-Alfi's investigations series, releasing the second part, The Case of Luz Murr, in January 2022, followed by My Grandmother's Guide to Killing Villains in January 2023. These works have showcased her talent for blending humor with suspense. The latter work earned her a nomination for the Katara Prize for Arabic Fiction in its tenth year in 2024, a significant recognition of her contribution to the literary scene. In January 2024, she published The Gooseberry Case, which is the third part of Noah A-Alfi's trilogy.
Mirna Al-Mahdi is one of the promising young voices in contemporary Arabic literature. In her works, she weaves together captivating plots, intricate characters, and pressing human issues. Moreover, her unique narrative style appeals to a diverse audience, enhancing her reputation as a writer with a distinctive touch on crime literature.
